About the event
"I'm a doctor. I have to be the strong one. My pain has no voice."
I wrote those words at the height of my burnout. When I look at them now, they still cause pain. Because at the time, they felt true. Now, more than a year into the global pandemic that has shaken our lives, I'm reminded that my pain can have a voice. But it's my choice to share that story. The same is true for you.
Based on the groundbreaking shame and vulnerability research of Dr. Brené Brown, I'm pleased to present a one-day virtual workshop based on her book "The Gifts of Imperfection." In small groups of doctors, we will work through her ten evidence-based guideposts for wholehearted living through the lens of medical culture.
How This Workshop Will Help You:
1. Learn to identify your own shame triggers so that you can start seeing what gets in the way of your progress
2. Learn to pay attention to habits--the good habits that align you with your core values as well as the bad habits that leave you feeling numb inside
3. Learn how self-compassion, vulnerability, gratitude and joy can form a foundation for love and belonging
4. Learn how to identify and address toxic aspects of medical culture so that you can take steps to bring meaning back into your work
The journey beyond burnout is a difficult one. But you don't have to start it alone.
Here's to some great conversations!
